Hey Matt, Here’s My WordPress Journey!

Matt Mullenweg, the guy behind WordPress, is hitting the big 4-0 🎉 and he’s thrown us a cool challenge: he wants us to blog. Yeah, just like that. Instead of wrapped gifts and surprise parties, he’s all about reading our published stories. And I think that’s awesome.

My own saga with WordPress kicked off somewhere around 2008, when I was still figuring out what to do with my life. Barely hitting 20 and itching to take on the world, I stumbled upon WordPress and boy, what a find! It was like having the keys to the kingdom: suddenly, I could whip up websites for my projects and, even better, make some dough doing the same for others.

WordPress wasn’t just a tool; it was my school. Every error, bug that made me break a sweat was a lesson. Google and the WordPress forums were my teachers. I learned to navigate this digital world from my neighborhood in Perú 🇵🇪 or Argentina 🇦🇷 and each solution found was a small triumph.

From selling pages to clients to managing my own projects, WordPress has been my faithful companion. And I’m not exaggerating when I say it helped me turn my life around. I even got a bit of fame at a WordCamp in Argentina, where they dubbed me ‘WordPress Genius‘. Yeah, it went that far.

Today, the website of my startup is still running on WordPress. And every time I post something, I feel like I’m leaving my mark, in my space, my way. It’s killer. Digital communication isn’t just part of my life; it is my life. It changed everything for me.

So, Matt, happy birthday, man! I hope this post cracks a smile for you 😁. You’ve changed the lives of many, including mine. Without WordPress, who knows where I’d be. Poverty is just a memory 💪 thanks to the platform you created. And yes, my WordPress tattoo says it all: I’m thankful as hell.

Here’s to more changes, more learnings, and more life enhanced by the tech that connects us. Thanks and keep the hits coming!
