(Another) Piece of Advice for Founders

(Another) Piece of Advice for Founders

When you're starting a business, it's really easy to drown in ideas, plans and complicated strategies. The truth is that, early on, it all comes down to something very simple: make the cash register ring as soon as possible. It's basic advice, but it can completely change how you approach your business. Here's why:

Speed matters

When you focus on bringing in revenue fast, you're not just trying to survive; you're proving that what you do actually has value for other people. Who proves it? Your customers, with their money. And here's what you get:

  • You connect with your customers: You learn what they need and what they're willing to pay for.
  • You sharpen your offer: Every sale is a sign you're on the right track (or not).
  • You build stability: The money coming in is the oxygen you need to keep going.

It's not about chasing profit for the sake of it. It's about learning fast and knowing whether what you're doing makes sense in the market.

More Action, Less Perfect

In my experience, we often get distracted trying to launch something "perfect" or thinking long-term, but in the end, what really matters is what you do today (not tomorrow). Every sale, no matter how small, gives you feedback to get better. That cash register sound is a sign of life: it tells you you're heading the right way.

Let's be clear

Whether you're just starting or you've been at it for a while, always go back to basics. Focus on solving a problem, connecting with your customers and selling something that actually makes their lives better. That's it. The cash register doesn't lie: it tells you whether you're building something worth it.

So...

Making the cash register ring isn't just a financial goal, it's the beat that sets the pace of growth. So if you're starting out or looking to refocus, here's my advice: stop overthinking and start selling something people value today.
